Interest in Yoruba Language and Culture is very strong world wide. There is a profound yearning for Yoruba Language learning and reading material  on the World Wide Web, but alas, the dearth of available resources is disconcerting.

The 'YORUBA READERS' CLUB INTERNATIONAL' - a non-profit organization, (and 'Yoruba Readers' Club of North America') was established a few years ago, with the goal of promoting the growth of Yoruba online and providing an avenue for enthusiasts worldwide to get exposure to the language.

'AWORERIN' translated literarily means 'something you look at and laugh', in one word 'COMIC'. This YORUBA COMIC, a publication of the then Ministry of Education in Western Nigeria dates back to the 1940's and was in print until the late 70's or early 80's. This publication can be regarded as an 'encyclopaedia' of Yoruba language and culture of its time which still has relevance today. We are in the process of obtaining and bringing this and other Yoruba reading material in the Public Domain online for the benefit of a global audience. Work has begun on the English, French and German translations of the contents of the archive as they become available. Plans are under way to to extend translations to many other major world languages, including several major Nigerian languages. Audio files of segments of the magazine are also in the works.

All are welcome to join us in this venture
